King
Cobra
of
Texas
Las
Vegas
Update
We've
all
heard
the
saying
"What
happens
in
Vegas
stays
in
Vegas",
well
not
always.
After
the
AMA
Arenacross
finals
at
Sam
Boyd
and
South
point
Casino,
the
hardware
will
not
stay
in
Vegas.
After
4
qualifying
rounds
in
the
south
region
Hunter
Budd
(COB
399)
qualified
first
in
the
south
and
set
the
stage
for
a
serious
battle
with
other
top
finishers
in
their
regions. |
 |
The
65
and
85
open
would
begin
the
events
and
coincide
with
the
finally
of
the
greatest
Supercross
series
in
the
history
of
Supercross.
Arriving
Friday
we
headed
to
Sam
Boyd
Stadium
for
registration,
the
weather
was
warm,
and
the
atmosphere
was
electric.
With
Supercross
championships
on
the
line
riders
were
on
point,
most
seem
nervous
while
others
relaxed
with
focus
wrapped
in a
cloak
of
confidence.
Hunter
took
in
the
scene
with
little
reaction
until
Saturday
morning
when
we
arrived
to
begin
the
track
walk,
Hunter
studied
the
track
as
if
he
would
be
tested
on
which
double
had
the
most
grains
of
sand.
Never
before
had
I
witnessed
the
focus
as I
did
that
afternoon,
with
Kevin
Windom
on
one
side
of
him
and
Chad
Reed
just
off
the
other,
Hunter
seemed
mostly
relaxed,
determined
and
right
at
home
with
the
nation's
top
Supercross
riders. |
With
the
track
walk
complete
and
the
riders
meeting
ironed
out
it
was
time
to
do
work.
Practice
began
right
on
time
for
both
65
and
85
back
to
back.
Riders
worked
out
the
traveling
bugs
and
butterflies
trapped
in
the
tummy.
Set
to
begin
the
heat
races
on
the
same
track
that
would
host
the
fastest
riders
in
the
world,
both
classes
ready
for
the
gate
drop.
Hunter
Budd
aboard
his
2011
Cobra
CX65
pulled
the
trigger
on
the
65
heat
and
set
the
tone
for
the
65
class.
With
pressure
being
applied
from
west
region
hotshot
Austin
Black
(KTM
55),
the
writing
was
on
the
wall
for
some
great
main
event
racing.
Shortly
after
the
65
heat
followed
the
85,
Hunter
would
get
out
of
the
gate
clean
and
settle
into
a
strong
6th
when
another
rider
would
make
a
move
that
would
end
up
taking
both
Hunter
and
himself
out
of
the
85
race
all
together.
Shaken
and
bruised
Hunter
Budd
had
to
reach
deep
when
the
65
main
came.
On
the
gate
outside
Sam
Boyd
the
heat
was
on,
the
pressure
never
greater,
but
with
the
work
done
it
was
time.
The
gate
fell
on
the
65
main,
Austin
and
Hunter
would
battle
for
6
laps,
swapping
the
lead
several
times,
until
Hunter
put
the
sweeping
pass
under
the
tunnel
and
took
control
of
the
race.
Coming
across
the
finish
line
things
just
became
slow
motion.
As
Hunter
rolled
up
to
the
stage
the
whole
race
rushed
over
me
and
the
words
come
out.
Hunter
just
won
his
first
national
championship,
not
at
some
motocross
where
the
only
people
who
would
know
are
the
same
people
he
raced,
no
Hunter
won
his
at
the
biggest
race
in
supercross
history,
with
the
best
of
the
best
lining
the
track.
Needless
to
say
the
race
was
great
and
the
night
was
epic.
Nothing
would
ready
us
for
the
star
treatment
to
follow;
Hunter
was
interviewed
on
the
podium
that
night
during
intermission
in
front
of a
sold
out
Sam
Boyd
crowd.
Then
after
the
interview
we
stayed
in
the
VIP
area
for
the
rest
of
the
night.
We
were
right
there
for
the
most
amazing
race
SX
has
ever
had.
When
I
mean
right
there
I
mean
at
the
podium,
2
foot
from
Villopoto,
Reed,
Dungy,
and
soooo
many
more.
The
confetti
blast
at
the
end
was
beyond
belief,
and
to
see
so
many
riders
of
the
future
and
the
past
in
one
place,
epic
is
all
that
comes
to
mind.
Hunter
soaked
it
in
and
a
I'll
have
to
have
the
smile
surgically
removed,
To
have
Hunter
win
a
national
championship
there,
that
day
and
that
place
is
beyond
description.
I
talked
to
Cole
Seely's
dad
briefly,
he
was
taking
a
picture
of
Cole
and
it
was
so
cool,
to
see
the
joy
he
still
had
for
his
son
to
be
on
the
podiums.
To
see
Trey
Canard
congratulate
Ryan
Vilipoto
with
a
sincere
head
shake
no
words
needed
to
be
said,
just
a
true
smile
and
a
node.
The
look
on
big
James
face
when
Stewart
crashed
is
burned
in
my
head,
the
guy
never
moved
or
reacted
just
stood
like
a
statue
on
the
top
of
the
building.
Watching
Adam
Cianciarulo
troll
around
was
hilarious
to
watch
and
the
gangster
handshake
with
him
still
makes
us
laugh
out
loud.
Standing
right
next
to
thunder
alley
feeling
the
roost,
power
and
speed
is
indescribable.
Once
complete
at
Sam
Boyd
after
a
night
on
the
floor
watching
the
races
from
the
VIP
area
and
seeing
his
hero's
up
close
and
personal
we
headed
to
South
Point
Casino
for
the
age
classes
on
Sunday.
The
morning
came
so
early
and
tired
does
not
begin
to
explain
the
way
most
felt.
Track
walk
at 7
practices
at 8
with
racing
to
follow.
Hunter
set
the
tone
for
his
classes
with
solid
practice
and
top
spots
in
the
heats.
When
the
mains
came,
a
bad
start
killed
his
85
championship
coming
from
8th
to
2nd
he
fell
short
and
needed
1
more
lap,
but
in
the
65
it
was
on,
Hunter
drove
and
made
the
pass
quick.
Hunter
would
settle
into
the
final
laps,
taking
the
win
and
his
2nd
national
title
marking
the
end
of
his
65
racing
forever.
What
a
way
to
go
out!
We're
so
proud
of
Hunter
Budd
and
the
work
he
has
done,
we
look
forward
to
the
85
class
and
the
challenges
that
class
will
bring.
I'd
like
to
say
thanks
for
all
the
warm
congrats
we
have
gotten
over
this
week,
also
to
our
sponsors
who
have
been
behind
Hunter
for
his
many
years
of
racing. |

April
2011
Update
With
the
passing
of
winter,
things
begin
to
heat
up
fast
and
in
Texas
that
means
the
new
Texas
2
step
with
Freestone
and
Oak
Hill
nationals.
This
year
brought
some
great
weather
and
even
better
racing.
With
this
being
Freestone
Spring
Championship's
first
year
the
turnout
was
average
but
the
racing
was
top
notch.
I
wish
we
could
have
made
the
trip
to
Freestone,
but
with
school
still
in
session
Freestone
was
not
to
be.
Oak
Hill
was
next
up
and
the
racing
was
just
as
great.
Hunter
Budd
(Cob
399)
rode
in
the
65
10-11
classes.
With
a
new
bike
that
was
uncrated
the
day
of
practice,
we
had
some
real
setup
pains
and
the
finishes
tell
the
story.
Bad
starts
and
his
first
ever
DNF
added
to
dismal
finishes.
In
the
65
10-11
stock
a
DNF
with
a 10
gave
Hunter
a
disappointing
19th. |
Aboard
his
2011
CX65
stock
bike
he
rode
in
the
mod
class
to a
14th
overall
with
a
15-13
for
the
week.
Since
this
race
we
have
done
a
ton
of
Testing
and
several
setup
changes
and
Hunter
feels
like
the
bike
is
better.
Next
up
for
Hunter
Budd
is
Sam
Boyd
stadium
in
Las
Vegas
where
he
will
be
going
for
a
national
championship
in
the
AMA
Arenacross
finials.
We're
super
excited
for
this
event
just
a
week
away.
Seth
was
at
oak
hill
national
and
had
some
of
the
best
racing
on
the
week
contesting
with
Callin
Kauffman
in
the
50
4-6
SOS
class.
Seth
would
end
with
a
1-2
and
a
2nd
place
podium
spot
backing
that
up
he
turned
in
a
2nd
place
in
the
50
4-6
mod
as
well
not
to
be
out
done
in
the
50
4-6
stock
he
also
nabbed
a
2nd
overall
giving
him
a
podium
in
all
the
races
he
ran.
We're
proud
of
Seth;
he's
been
out
for
a
few
months
and
just
getting
back
in
the
mix
in a
fast
fun
way.
On
the
local
scene,
Jason
Norman
has
been
putting
down
some
serious
laps
in
the
cross
country
scene.
Jason
has
been
top
3 a
just
about
every
outdoor
race
he's
done,
winning
most.
He's
just
about
done
racing
the
65
and
really
would
like
to
top
off
the
ton
of
championships
in
the
cross
country
Texas
venue
with
just
one
more.
We're
pulling
for
him
for
sure.
Also
Brock
Walker
jumped
back
into
the
racing
mix
at
the
Texas
night
race
at
Freestone
County
raceway.
He
had
solid
starts
and
good
results
taking
a
2nd
and
a
2nd
with
Seth
taking
the
win.
We're
darn
lucky
to
have
these
little
guys
riding
so
well
and
showing
what
the
Cobra
bikes
can
do.
I
want
to
thank
all
our
loyal
customers
for
the
business
and
wish
all
the
riders
good
luck
as
they
pursue
there
dreams
about
their
Cobra
bikes. |

December
2010
Update Fall
is
quickly
coming
to a
close
and
in
Texas
that
only
means
one
thing,
the
Texas
Winter
series!
Many
events
have
wrapped
up
on
the
year,
but
not
in
Texas
it
seems
the
racing
just
kicks
off
one
after
another.
In
the
Texas
Cross
Country
seen,
TORN
(Texas
Off
road
Nationals)
have
ended
with
our
woods
rider
Jason
Norman
riding
the
2010
CX65
to
another
successful
season.
The
kid
is a
machine
in
the
woods,
taking
what
could
be
his
5th
Texas
TORN
title
rocking
his
CX50
and
CX65.
Congratulations
to
Jason
Norman
Cobra
rider
and
state
champion
yet
again.
|
Next in
store Jason
will begin
the winter
cross
country
series TORO
(Texas Off
Road
Organization)
were he
plans to
contest both
the expert
65 class and
a full
series
aboard his
85 and man
does he with
Cobra made
an 85, maybe
in years to
come.
Lately
Hunter Budd
has been
deep in
training for
the AMA
Arenacross
series.
Contesting
the Cycle
City
promotions
in several
cities and
riding super
strong.
Hunter still
has one year
left aboard
the Cobra 65
and he plans
to make the
best of it.
The coming
year Hunter
has plans to
qualify for
AMA
Arenacross,
Ponca and
for the
first time
ever he ask
to attend
Loretta Lynn's
everyone
knows the
work needed
to make the
big show so
we'll see
how the area
to
regional's
pan out.
Hunter is
fresh off of
the Mini O's
in
Florida
and with the
help of
Cobra
Factory he
was able to
ride the new
2011 and wow
he loved it,
in fact he
doesn't even
want to ride
his old
bikes, so I
guess we'll
need to
collect a
few more
bucks if we
plan on
running a 65
in 2011.
Darren Kelly
finished up
with that
stick and
ball sport
football and
began to
ride again
and the plan
for now is
to qualify
for Vegas
this year in
the AMA
Arenacross,
we look
forward to
him putting
in his best
effort, Big
"D" loves to
ride so
getting back
in the
saddle
should go
well for
him.
Brock Walker
we hope will
be able to
get back to
his old
trick of
kicking butt
on the track
as well as
Seth Milam,
but time
will tell,
Parker
Mashburn
finally got
his CX65 and
he's loving
it, He also
attended the
Mini O's in
Florida and
had solid
rides, the
kids got
skills for
sure and is
always fun
to watch.
Down south
we have
Coopers
kids, Bobby
Joe and
Jesse James
sounds like
a Wild West
story, but
fact is when
they come to
town they
are blazing
both the
CX50 and the
CX65 so if
you want to
run with
them get to
the stables
and mount
up.
So as the
year draws
to a close
King Cobra
of Texas
would like
to thank the
many
customers
and friends
who have
help and
supported us
through the
years, we
move forward
to 2011 with
much
excitement
and wish
everyone a
safe ride.
Remember He
is the
reason for
the season
and it takes
a village to
race.

September
2010
Update
The
big
shows
are
over
and
summer
is
getting
closer
to
an
end.
The
guys
have
all
been
really
putting
in
the
work
and
it's
shown
to
pay
off.
Seth
Milam
(COB
306)
had
good
rides
at
both
Ponca
and
Loretta's.
Slightly
bummed
for
him
because
of
mistakes
he
missed
podiums,
but
he
learned
from
those
slip
ups.
The
little
guy
was
running
top
times
and
that
shows
lots
of
promise.
He'll
have
to
sit
Branson
out
on
the
DL
since
he
busted
himself
a
little,
while
riding
at
Oak
Hill
a
week
ago.
We're
all
hoping
for
a
quick
recovery
and
look
for
him
to
take
it
to
Florida
in
November.
|
Brock
Walker
(Cob
61)
has
been
really
shining
at
the
Texas
Full
Moon
series.
Killing
the
O/I
class
and
is
locked
in a
battle
for
the
4-6,
too
bad
he
missed
2
races
already.
We
are
all
looking
for
his
national
début
at
Branson
this
year.
Lots
of
prep
work
has
been
going
on
and
Brock
looks
to
be
ready
to
take
the
big
gates.
Little
Bobby
Joe
(COB515)
has
been
developing
fast,
the
little
guy
just
began
riding
a 65
and
king
for
practice
and
wow
the
results
he
has
turned
in
are
great.
His
brother
Jesse
has
been
showing
off
his
Cobra
65
down
south
and
he
looks
to
be
the
man
in
that
area.
It's
always
fun
to
have
them
up
north
on
these
tracks
because
Jesse
can
rail.
Jason
Norman
does
what
he
does
best,
races
in
the
woods
and
he's
on a
roll
yet
again
looking
to
take
the
65
INT
class
for
another
year.
Off
the
50
bikes
now
for
good,
Jason
has
settled
into
a
great
rider
on
both
the
65
and
his
85.
The
Texas
off
road
Series
is
just
a
few
races
from
being
complete
we
look
to
have
Jason
on
the
top
box
again.
Hunter
Budd
(COB
399)
has
been
off
a
few
weeks
since
Ponca
where
he
had
really
solid
division
races
and
top
10
finishes
in
the
mains.
Hunter
has
really
been
turning
it
on
and
we're
proud
of
his
performance
on
the
Cobra
65.
Last
week
Hunter
attended
the
Mississippi
state
race
at
Golden
Pines
MX
and
wow
the
riders
that
did
attend
all
rode
fast,
Hunter
was
able
to
win
the
overall
in
the
10-11
65
and
just
missed
the
open
65
by a
wheel.
Hunter
has
also
begun
to
ride
the
85
bike
and
has
big
plans.
We
hope
to
attend
the
Mini
O's
in
Florida
with
him
again
this
year.
Parker
Mashburn
was
kicking
it
at
LL
and
wow
he
set
the
fastest
times,
if
not
for
a
gate
error
that
was
not
even
his
fault
we
have
no
doubt
he
would
have
taken
the
7-8
50cc
overall,
but
hey
no
worries,
he
did
great
taking
2nd
super
rider
and
super
kid,
look
for
more
as
he
moves
to
the
65.
With
the
hard
work
and
determination
Parker
has,
the
sky
is
the
only
limit
to
how
high
he
can
go.
I
want
to
say
thanks
to
all
our
great
loyal
customers
and
friends.
During
this
economy
many
are
cutting
back
and
doing
their
best
to
stay
on
the
track,
we
here
at
King
Cobra
of
Texas
understand
that
fully
and
hope
to
help
were
we
can.
We
wish
all
safe
rides
and
look
forward
to
meeting
more
of
our
customer
base
at
the
track.
Thanks

JULY
2010
Update
As
the
days
get
longer
and
the
heat
gets
hotter
King
Cobra
of
Texas
riders
continue
to
work
hard.
The
summer
in
Texas
brings
a
few
traditional
series
such
as
the
Full
Moon
and
the
Texas
Night
Series.
Our
riders
have
been
attending
both
series
as
well
as
getting
the
qualifiers
for
both
Ponca
and
Loretta's
taken
care
of.
This
year
we're
excited
about
both
the
nationals
and
expect
great
things
from
our
national
riders
Hunter
Budd
(Cob
399)
and
Parker
Mashburn
(Cob
223).
Both
have
nailed
their
ticket
to
the
national
of
choice
Hunter
to
Ponca
and
Parker
is
off
to
pull
a
spoon
at
Loretta's. |
Seth
Milam
also
did
his
part
getting
his
ticket
bunched
for
the
4-6
and
the
shaft
class
at
Loretta's
this
year.
After
much
debt
and
tossing
around
they
elected
to
just
ride
the
shaft
class,
given
Seth
is a
young
5 it
would
seem
the
correct
thing
for
them
to
do.
I'm
super
proud
of
the
guys
for
the
hard
work
they
have
put
in
and
look
forward
to
their
future
success
on
and
off
the
track.
Hunter
Budd
has
been
doing
lots
of
training
and
is
excited
to
have
made
the
NMA
Nationals
at
Ponca
City
again
this
year.
This
will
be a
sophomore
year
for
Hunter
in
the
65
9-11
classes
having
all
next
year
in
the
class
as
well.
He
plans
to
start
riding
the
85
and
was
stoked
to
know
he
has
some
support
from
Aldridge
Motorsports
aboard
the
KX85.
This
will
help
Hunter
met
his
goal
for
the
future
and
I
know
he
thanks
them
for
the
help.
He
plans
on
taking
his
85
to
Vegas
in
the
AMA
arenacross
series
and
just
doing
the
best
he
can.
We
look
for
good
thing
on
both
the
85
and
his
Cobra
65.
Jason
Norman
has
been
rolling
the
woods
and
is
on
track
for
yet
another
title
in
the
TORN
(Texas
off
Road
Nationals).
He's
been
doing
his
part,
and
managed
to
get
some
luck
with
the
timing.
He
broke
his
hand
jumping
on a
trampoline
thank
goodness
his
race
series
was
on
summer
break.
So
he
should
be
healed
up
and
ready
to
go
defend
his
championship.
Down
south
Bobby
Joe
and
Jesse
James
Millican
have
been
on a
tear.
Both
guys
have
been
winning
just
about
everything
in
the
series
they
have
run
and
really
showing
just
how
much
the
practice
and
training
has
been
sinking
in.
Nathan
Smith
began
to
ride
the
65 a
few
months
ago
and
I'm
pretty
sure
his
days
of
wanting
to
even
see
a 50
are
done,
we
watched
him
ride
the
Ponca
state
race
and
man
he
loves
the
65.
He
rode
well
and
had
some
good
battles.
Should
be
on
track
for
the
new
season,
Darren
Kelly
is
on a
stick
and
ball
sport
vacation,
riding
every
now
and
then,
but
I
expect
him
to
be
on
his
game
when
the
AX
season
comes
around.
I'd
like
to
thank
all
our
customers
for
their
support
and
their
business,
I
hope
things
are
well
and
everyone
has
success
on
and
off
the
track
as
the
summer
rolls
through.
Stay
safe
have
fun
and
enjoy
your
time
at
the
track. |

MAY
2010
Update
Road
trips
and
podiums
pretty
much
sum
up
the
spring
for
King
Cobra
of
Texas
riders.
The
little
guys
have
had
a
good
run.
Seth
Milan
tucked
a
couple
of
2nd
places
finishes
in
his
pocket
at
Oak
Hill,
Bobby
Joe
took
the
winter
series
by
storm,
Jason
Norman
won
not
one
but
two
Texas
Titles
competing
in
the
TORO
off
road
series.
With
Nathan
Smith
on
the
DL
our
65
7-9
rider
picked
up a
few
50cc
races
just
for
fun
at
Village
and
Burleson
and
man
was
that
cool
to
see
just
how
well
he
can
still
ride
a
50.
|
After
Oak
Hill
Seth
was
picked
up
by
Cobra
Factory
and
man
was
his
dad
proud
as
were
the
whole
team.
The
work
Seth
has
put
in
prior
to
racing
the
GNC
really
paid
off.
The
little
guy
was
on
rails
coming
very
close
to a
moto
win
and
finishing
a
solid
2nd
behind
Linville
so
he
will
be
poised
for
some
podiums
as
the
year
goes
on
and
really
in
gear
next
year.
We're
also
super
proud
of
how
the
AMA
Arenacross
series
went,
for
both
Darren
Kelly
and
Hunter
Budd.
Both
riders
went
to
Vegas
with
lots
of
confidence
following
rock
solid
rides
at
all
the
qualifiers.
As
the
racing
begin
in
Vegas
both
had
a
few
hiccups
with
practice,
and
the
heats
were
a
little
rough.
But
in
the
mains
they
got
the
fire
lit
andwere
on
the
move,
Darren
after
passing
well
was
moving
into
a
top
five
when
a
mechanical
jumped
up
and
ruined
his
ride,
we
were
all
bummed
for
him
because
he
was
really
getting
into
his
groove.
Hunter
Budd
was
on a
roll
making
his
presence
known
and
felt
every
time
he
hit
the
track
ending
with
a
streak
that
any
top
rider
would
love
to
have.
He
made
the
podium
every
race
he
went
to
for
qualifying
and
topped
the
trophy
cake
with
a
big
splash
of
Vegas!
Saturday
after
a
fair
start
he
was
able
to
get
around
Austin
Black
for
3rd
and
after
setting
nearly
the
fastest
lap
time
of
the
race
he
ran
out
of
time,
but
finished
with
a
cool
3rd.
Then
Sunday
came
around
and
man
was
the
wind
crazy,
fortunately
for
Hunter
another
great
ride
blew
his
way,
the
65
10-11
main
might
be
his
best
race
ever.
With
5
riders
bowling
down
the
track
any
one
of
them
could
have
won,
Hunter
missed
by
.007
and
had
to
take
2nd,
but
what
a
finish!!
Spring
is
long
past
and
our
guys
begin
to
look
at
summer
with
much
excitement,
Texas
racing
is
as
good
as
ever
with
plenty
of
national
level
tracks.
Our
plans
are
typical,
hit
the
tracks
make
Ponca
and
enjoy
our
time
with
our
riders
and
customers.
I
want
to
thank
our
loyal
customers
for
really
spreading
the
word,
and
for
being
the
glue
that
holds
our
industry
together,
moms,
dads
and
just
the
whole
family
because
it
takes
a
village
for
sure. |

12 Mar 2010 Race Update
It's been business as usual for the King Cobra of Texas rider team. The guys have been really working on placing the Cobras up front. We've been all over the state shaking it up and taking top podiums in many series.
In Texas, Tony Miller promotes a little ditty called the Texas Winter series that draws some power hitters from around the country, to best the Texas Winter series it takes lots of grit and determination, yet again King Cobra of Texas has had success with our 50cc riders who followed the series.
|
|
|
|
The Texas Winter series takes riders to the best tracks in
north Texas for some of the toughest riding.
In the 50 7-8 and the 50 open Nathan Smith (COB 51) shined bright and dug deep fighting back and illness that made his chances of even coming to the races slim, but thought the series despite fighting back the cold, flews and stomach issues Nathan reached deep and made the grade, placing his Stock CX50 in the Kings seat after all the rounds were done, forcing others to go back to the drawing board and re-think just how to muster up the effort next year.
Also in the house during the Texas Winter Series was our newest rider Seth Milam (COB 306) and what a fun addition to the team. Adding to the 4-6 side of town Seth placed himself on the top podium and winning an
FMF pipe deal, kind of cool of them to do. Seth took the 4-6 the O/I and did super in the Open even running second in the last open race for nearly ¾ of the race in front of several senior bikes.
Down south Bobby Joe and
Jesse James has been kicking it also in the Texas Triple Crown, both doing super and taking the overalls. Bobby has been improving with leaps and bounds and has even taken to the 65, for such a little guy that's a real step to moving on up. Jesse moved over to a Cobra 65 and now has a new love. Jesse says he loves the power and the smooth ride compared to other brands he worked with. We look for Jesse to translate the love to wins and I expect he will because he's got skills.
Hunter Budd has been on his game with the AX scene, but also outdoors doing some old school racing with a few guys we rolled with back in the day. Hunter attended both the Texas winter series and the central series for a little outdoor bump and run. Hunter and Tyler Sudderth were back to the old ways, bar to bar and wheel to wheel, man it was so intense every lap. As the years go by every rider has their alter ego, the one rider that just makes them step it up, for Chad Reed it Bubba, for Villipoto its Allesi and for Hunter Budd Tyler is that guy and we look forward to many more years of action packed racing.
Darren Kelly has been growing and showing what he has, in the AMA Arenacross he's qualified in the 65 7-9 and in on the bubble for the open as we head to Denver to contest and gather more points. In the outdoors he's been developing more and showing promise while just enjoying his time on the Cobra CX65.
On the national scene Parker Mashburn and Seth Milam will be contesting Whitney then moving over to Oak Hill to join Hunter Budd and Nathan Smith for some top tier racing. King Cobra of Texas will be on hand at Oak Hill to support our riders and Cobra racer in need. Stop by and say hey and bench race a little. |

In racing many mile stones are crossed, things that once challenged a rider become just an everyday thing. You just can't help but to take in the moment. I remember my first racing win and just how excited I was. I remember the first time my wife told me she was faster than me, although
she has yet to prove that and if I have my way I'll just keep her guessing. That said in a rider development mile stones things come and go, but I'll never forget February 7th 2010. That was the day I saw
Hunter Budd hit the catapult at the AMA arenacross in Tulsa Oklahoma. I still have to go back and see the pictures to believe it. Sure he's been
riding for years and yes many riders on the 65 have busted the elusive K2 of arenacross, but when it's your rider and
|
everyone's been telling you he can do it, then when it happens it's like few other emotions in racing. Hunter has really been riding great the past few weeks, getting podium spots in
Kansas City,
Oklahoma City, Lafayette and others, but to see him face the scariest jump AX has to offer just gave me goose pumps. So we move on with our goal of qualifying to the Vegas SX with lots of confidence and another mile stone crushed on the long road to becoming a top national rider.
On other fronts Nathan Smith has been doing his homework and preparing for the outdoornationals coming up. His homework involves top notch wins and solid finishes. The kid is flying and his skill is riding a high like we have not seen from him in the past. He leads the Texas Winter series in points and with Whitney this coming weekend he should wrap it up. Mostly we're excited for him to gain the track experience and to show he is a force in Texas racing.
Seth Milam was added to the roster for our national 4-6 rider and with a program geared to win we welcome him to the team. The kids come so far in the time he's been riding and it still amazes me to see young pilots like Seth take to the track.
Darren Kelly has taken on the task of also making the Vegas run and in the 65 7-9 that spells trouble for the class, he's leading the south now with a sweep of Tulsa and more experience in AX. So it will be assume to see him ride in the Alamo Dome in the big city of San Antonio.
Down south Bobby-Joe has been doing super in the 4-6 racing the Waco Map Orielly AX, and doing other local events. He's riding a King here and there to get a jump on the competition and he's taken to it like a fish at sea. Look for him to be in the mix.
Parker has been doing his thing on his 65, but come national time he will be on the 50, I know I'm ready to see the little guy ride the green beast again. He rides a 50 with top speed and we expect to be in the upper positions of the field at Oak Hill this year.
Lots of racing to be done and our riders are ready. |
|
 |
|
Texas Racing has really been heating up, sure the temp outside has been sub-teens but hey it's Texas just wait a day. Our riders have been on track and up front.
First off I want to say a big congratulation to Jason Norman who not only put his CX50 Sr. on the top overall podium of the Texas off Road National, but he also took the top notch aboard his CX65 in the 65 class as well. He's had a long hard season with many ups and downs, but he kept digging and pulled it out at the end. Most of the season he ran out front, but stumbled a few times, but nothing to worry about. He smoothed it out and took home the goods. We're proud to have him on the team, he's been a King Cobra of Texas rider for years and yet again he proved himself worthy and we're all proud to have him in the Cobra family.
Nathan Smith has been doing his homework and during the 2nd stop of the Honda of Houston series, Nathan toped all the riders with 2 first, showing confident speed with a cool smile. It's going to be fun watching this little guy grow and we're excited to be a part of it. Darren Kelly went to the Blizzard series in
Oklahoma and froze his tail off while winning the open and icing a 2nd in the age class. Super fun hard working kid. Parker Mashburn has been training and really fine tuning his skill. Come Whitney it's on and should be good! Hunter Budd has a birthday this week, to celebrate he took every holeshot and win at the Lafayette, then winning the 10-11 at Southwest MX park fighting with Rooster for the open, but came a little short. Next he was off to Oklahoma and the LazyE for a cool AX race. The place was packed and the gates were extra cool. Hunter had to mix it up with a few northern riders. Starts were strong and ground speed solid, but Bret Welch had to much for Hunter in the rhythm section doing the doubles with style. Hunter was able to scratch out a 2nd in the Open and 3rd in the age. Great night of racing.
Next we plan to hit the AX series more, we'll be in
Kansas City MO. for the AMA Arenacross, followed by Tulsa and San Antonio. We're super excited to hope for Vegas and with some luck we'll be in the big show watching the big boys battle.
